Almost awesome...

...but still purely a turret defense game, where you do nothing but control where the turret points.

Don't get me wrong, what it does, it does awesomely well, but it could use something to distract from the wave upon wave of black, silver, gold bad guys. At the moment most of the variety comes from which enemies stay what distance away and how much it hurts if you let them shoot, the best enemies were the ones that circled your base, set up their guns, and unleashed while you tracked and shot them down- because they were interesting, and not common in defense games. Same for the huge blockers that just rolled up and got in the way while the artillery blasted you from behind, they were awesome because they were interesting.

If you set the enemies to come in waves that were choreographed beforehand- for example, send a couple blockers in front, followed by a pair of troop carriers (full of the long range soldiers) and small artillery. Or send in a couple dozen of the ninjas to distract from the mega-artillery rolling in from the sides... it's just "throw everything at the turret and see if he can shoot it all down".

If the guns did something other than all fire in generally the same direction, hit and do damage, it'd add strategy to how you built up your weaponry. Say if the cannon made explosive blasts when it hit, the lasers penetrated through, the flak cannons spread out shotgun-style instead of just at an angle. Maybe some auto-defense turrets you could fit on top, or a bigger battlefield where you could attempt to mount other turrets, develop a base, and cover more area.

More criticisms;

1) upgrade screen is fugly, it looks rushed unlike the rest of the game
2) even with 7 tracks, the music starts to grate- if they were more ambient and less prominent, it wouldn't so much
3) no way of seeing your damage that you inflict other than watching your shots be absorbed
4) no visible signs of wear and tear on the turret itself at low health

anyway, that's me being hyper-critical. i know a shit-ton of effort went into making this, so you'll want #2 to be the best possible.

I was considering set waves of enemies, it may be included in a new play option. Troop carriers sounds like a good idea. I'm also looking into possibilities for additional weapons functions. In this game, the difference is in fire rate and damage. I know the upgrade screen is ugly, and I am going to vary the music more. There is actually a display for damage on the turret. Maybe the auto-healer hid it from view. The hyper-criticism is helpful, so thanks.

pretty nice. couple easy things to fix, though

1) the big rocks weren't opaque, so the ships probably weren't either. wireframe or not, making them blot out the stars would be a lot more pleasing.

2) crank the speed up 1.5x or double, or have it crank up as you progress.

and i agree with everyone else, powerups/bosses would make this awesome

loved it

funny how a lot of the puzzles were based around disco lit floors, though.

advice for anyone stuck on the tv- track the orange dude

it's alright.

definitely not original, but reasonably well done...

also, the shaking is a bitch. i did complete it, and it gets better after level 60, for anyone reading

Ugh

sickly

you took sound from Survival Project, heavily edited an Amy sprite from sonic advance, and stuck it in a bunch of Maple Story levels.

i appreciate the effort, but just don't. come up with something original

...but you deserved not the power of one vote, but all 5.36

Stylish, simple, fun, awesome.

MAKE ANOTHER. this one gets boring after you're teched up, and all the units become redundant after you get the 5,000 colossus. oh, and the lasers are pants, and so was the Quantity upgrade, which seemed to do nothing.

maybe have some of your bots hang back and use attacks at range, and others use different flight patterns from the straight line.

The effort deserves a 5

...but I think its a little over-ambitious... flash just can't handle this kind of punishment, its jittery as hell even on the lowest quality.

You should make this in a different medium... it's just too buggy as it is

Having said that, the level designs are pretty awesome, and the work that's gone into it seems huge. But like the other guy said, the audio is crap.

its ok.

problem is, there are very few good death animations, and its too much effort to get them all.

need to be more inventive...

By the sweat of your brow you will eat bread.

pretty damn good.

to anyone who thinks the bosses are too easy, try playing through story mode a second time.

to anyone who can't find the other good weapons, there's one hidden in each non-boss stage (as pickups), and one each for good scores in the survivals.

imo, the weapon you get for completing the game is a bit too good... it makes the game way too easy second time round, in "hard" mode, other than for the bosses.

personal favorite weapon is the jackhammer or the benelli...

yeah. awesome.

but i dont think there are 21 guns in there... 2 handguns, 2 dual handguns, 1 desert eagle, the dual wield uberpistols, 2 shotguns, jackhammer, 2 SMGs, 2 dual SMGs... i only found 13...

CnC Generals- lite

Low style- most of the units were plagiarised and functioned similarly to the counterparts in Generals- bazooka and rifle infantry, fine, but having duplicate Helix and Comanche copters is pushing it.

Other than that its pretty awesome. Especially the last battle, since you can't simply mass troops- freeze + ion cannon and you're screwed.

The ion/particle cannon is also a major rip.

One thing, laptop users can't use the mouse and arrow keys at once. Make a WASD option for us in the inevitable #4- it made the first mission hell.

Heavy tanks + bullet upgrade were too strong. If the bullets were reduced to ambulance (AGAIN. COME ON. AT LEAST ADMIT YOUR PLAGIARISM) strength, there would be reason to do something other than spam heavy tanks with a couple gattlings.

Since you're going down the c+c route, veteran/elite/hero units would be a good addition.

4/5.

VENGEANCE-GGG responds:

Helix and Comanche are real helicopters, y'know. They're not the exclusive property of C&C:G. However, I must admit that the game was almost entirely inspired by C&C, note the control scheme (and, yes, the Ion Beam).

Laptop users can't use the mouse and arrow keys at the same time? Why not? It seems fine on my dad's Powerbook... Plus, WASD wouldn't work, because it already uses the A and S keys for other things. And sure, you might say move it to the right to get ESDF instead, but that still uses the S and E keys. In fact, there's nowhere you could move it on the entire keyboard that's not being used already.
And yes, I do admit I was inspired a lot by C&C. I'm gonna upload a new version with weaker heavy tank bullets.
